Movement pyramid

Age group

3-5 yrs

Number of children:

3-7 ppl

Areas it develops: attention, visual memory, senso-motor integration, body schema, execution, motor imagination

This game requires great focus but it deeply develops memory and focusing on one-another. Plus, it is a lovely way to learn to express creativity. We also give tips on how to help children who have problems with coming up with a new movement.

Ingredients

  • we need the children and some creativity 🙂

Let's use creativity and memory

Instructions:

Stand in a circle with kids in each of them. Someone should start by showing a movement which has to be replicated by the person standing opposite them. After mimicking the movement the second child should add their own movement and the third will have to showcase the first two movements. Every time there should be a new first and repeat the activity until everyone had a chance to be first.

Pro tip: The child with the related difficulty should never be first, let them observe a couple of rounds first. Once there have been many rounds we can try placing them first with a bit of help if necessary. The adult should offer two types of movements and they would have to pick one.
